Civita, known as ‘the Dying City’ is a hamlet of 11 inhabitants in the municipality of Bagnoregio. It was founded 2,500 years ago by the Etruscans and is listed as one of the most beautiful towns in Italy. The only way it can be reached is via a suspended, concrete footbridge built in 1965. Visiting Civita Bagnoregio is certainly one of the most exciting experiences you could possibly have in the Tuscia area. Every year hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world come to admire this ancient, Etruscan beauty, which challenges time and erosion of the tuff spur on which it is located. It is surrounded by the Valley of Calanchi, a marvellous spectacle formed over time by wind and rain.
